Richfield Foundation 2016 Grant Recipients - December 13, 2016

We were excited to present over $18,500 in grants for 2016. Fifteen organizations received funds. Thank you to all who applied for a grant and thank you to those who donated to the foundation!

Central Education Center - Richfield Community Education

Grant funds will support Youth Enrichment Scholarships for after school activities such as karate, drawing, drama and cooking. 

Funding will support the facilitation of prevention classroom presentations focusing on topics such as teen dating violence, bullying, harassment, anger awareness and healthy relationships. This will support kindergarden through twelfh graders.

Loaves and Fishes provides free and nutritious meals to those that cannot meet their daily food needs. Grant funds will support two locations in Richfield at Hope Church and Woodlake Lutheran Church.

Richfield Meals on Wheels provides low-cost and nutritious meals to Richfield residents who are unable to prepare meals on their own. Funds will be used for general operations in order to keep the meals afordable.

Grant funds will be used to increase access to technology for families in Richfield. 

Oasis focuses on community-based outreach. Funds will be used to purchase critical supplies needed for youth at risk of homelessness. 

Open Streets at Penn Fest is a community building event designed to bring people of all generations and cultures together. Grant funds will be used to hire ethnic dance groups to perform throughout the event.

People with Capes provide parent education, child/teen and parent communication skills, and child/teen and parent social skills training. Grant funds will be used to offset fees paid to professionals providing training in both English and Spanish.

Since 1980, the committee has advanced and promoted the observance of Independence Day in Richfield. Grant funds will be used for general operation in 2017.

Grant funds will be used for partial scholarships to defray expenses for the 6th grade four-day winter trip to Lanesboro. Students learn about environment, teamwork and participate in challenging activities.

Richfield ELC Fund

Richfield's Unity in the Community event will be back in 2017. Members of the community come together at Veteran's park to celebrate our diverse heritage. Grant funds will support performers and chair rentals.

Richfield Ready supports families in their efforts to develop competent and responsible youth by connecting them to the community. Grant funds will be used to provide scholarships and transportation to activities.

Grant funds will help students in first through third grades learn about bullying prevention, how to respond and how they can help. The school will be partnering with PACER to provide the presentation.

VEAP's Student Hunger Collaborative is designed to support low-income families with school-aged children by providing food packs for the weekend. Grand funds will be used to purchase food.

Woodlake Nature Center will be establishing a vegetable garden for youth to learn where their food comes from, as well as the benefits of healthy foods. Grand funds will be used to purchase supplies to install raised gardens.
